And the winner is…

The lottery process that kicked off The Cape Epic 2007 is now a thing of the past, and saw nearly seven applicants for every invitation available. The event keeps growing in all directions, and this was the biggest response we have had yet to our call to entry. Invitations were sent to successful applicants late on 20 July, and by 08h30 the following morning, all thirty places on the waiting list had been filled.

Successful applicants are reminded that they have thirty days from the day they received their invitation to register their teams and complete the payment process, or lose the chance to ride The Cape Epic 2007.

Charity entries still availables

All is not lost for applicants who missed out in the lottery process. Our Charity Bidding programme will let you secure an entry to The Cape Epic 2007 by committing to buying bikes for the Bicycling Empowerment Network to spread the word of cycling as a viable form of transport in South Africa. We will distribute them into the communities that the Cape Epic passes through, and you will get to hand them over in person at one of the nightly prize givings, guaranteeing potential team sponsors some extra exposure. The 30 teams that bid the most bikes get in to The Cape Epic 2007 – in 2006 it was the Norwegian Centra Harvest team that led the pack, bidding ten bikes. Click here to make your bid.

Volunteer and guarantee a ride in 2008

Another way of getting to take part in the Cape Epic is through our volunteer programme. You get to stay in the Race Village, with the riders, but instead of spending hours in the saddle you get to work behind the scenes and be a part of the heart of the race. We are looking for hard-working fun-loving folk who want a taste of the event before they tackle it themselves. Click here to apply.

New finish, new route, new challenges.

The Cape Epic office is in training for our annual Trial Ride, where we get to experience exactly what the riders will be going through just seven months later. From late September, keep an eye on www.cape-epic.com for an idea of how the 2007 route shapes up. All we can tell you for now is that it boasts four new stage venues and a brand new finish location after three successful finishes at Spier Wine Estate (thank you Spier…). Watch this space…
